GTL in the MIA!

Well, it’s in its second season, and it’s better than ever with fake nails popping off, extensions flying, and thick Guido accents all around. That’s right kids, we are smack dab in the middle of the second season, of the “acclaimed” (and I use that word loosely) season of Jersey Shore. Snooki, Jwoww, Sammi, Pauly D, Ronnie, Vinnie, The Situation have all returned! But instead of invading Seaside Heights for the second season, the gang has headed cross country to the beaches of Miami. That’s right kids, Miami!

As we left them last season, Ronnie and Sam had called it quits, but it seems living in house together in the humid air of the MIA has sparked the overly tanned, half nude duo. For the first several episodes of the show, it was off again on again with Ronnie and Sam, fighting and breaking up more often than Heidi and Spencer.

But wait! Who’s that walking through the door? Is it the Kim Kardashian of Staten Island? I think it is! Yep, Angelina and her bitchy attitude have returned to bring enlightenment to the house, and by enlightenment I mean drama for sure.  She left in a huff last season, and so far this season, it doesn’t seem like her attitude towards her roommates is going to be much better. With tensions in the house as high as the girls stilettos, it seems as if this season is more drama filled than the previous. And with rumors of a third season back in NJ, the team is in for at least another 15 minutes of fame before we find Pauly D aerating the ground with his hair, and “The Situation” working at a Laundromat scrubbing the shirts on his abs.

With the announcement of a possible third season of the series in the works, it brings about the reinvention of the gang. Pauly is seen on the red carpet wearing a suit, and Snooki has brought the hemline down, along with the bump in her hair. Jwoww has removed the highlights, and Sammi has a more “Sweetheart” look about her now.

The Jersey Shore hair style for the white carpet this past weekend was all about the straight look, with Jwoww, Sammi and Snooki all with the long, straight locks that shine for the cameras. This look is much better compared to the “Bump” style of last season, and brings the women of the “Shore” more in tune with the hair of the day.

Before the Emmys that the rest of us saw on Sunday night was the Creative Arts Emmys. The big winner for hair for a series was again the hottest show on television, MAD MEN. It was for the episode "souvenir". The head hairstylist is Lucia Mace. Congratulations to Lucia and the entire team!

They all do incredible work on that show. I had always thought of women from the Mad Men era as stiff and uptight. It did not look like a lot of fun to be a women during that time to me. However, Mad Men has totally changed my point of view. I have realized through the over all creative team on this show that this time period was a very sexy time for women. Women put a lot of time and effort into their hair, clothes, and their femininity. In fact it seems to me that women were running things a lot more then in a very behind the scenes way than we are now. I think it looks like a lot of fun! Imagine being "Joan" on the show. The guys may think that they are in charge but I don't think that's entirely true.

Really the women then are just like we are today. We all can run things from behind the scenes or from right up front. Whichever way is more fun to you. We all have our own beauty, naturally, and what we don't have or what we want to improve on we can. There are a million products to help our skin, nails, hair, there are always new clothes, all of this right at our fingertips. We all can create whatever look we would like, and we can also avoid the looks that we don't want. We all have it in us to be a "Joan" or a "Peggy" and to have all the fun that we want!

Emmy Hair!

The Emmys were amazing last night! With sytle galor, and celebrities donning the red carpet in their best outfits, it was a night of style all around. One of the big winners of the evening was January Jones, star of the hit series, "Mad Men". Jones waltzed the red carpet in a beautiful flowing blue dress, and long flowing locks.

Mark Townsend was January's stylist, and created an edgy, fashion-forward look for January Jones. “A textured, asymmetrical bob was the perfect way to incorporate January’s love of editorial fashion and runway style into a feminine, yet tough look,” said stylist Mark Townsend.

Want this look? Try this style recommended from Dove:

1) The night before, use Dove Intensive Repair Damage Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner to strengthen hair and prevent damage.

2) Second day texture was key to achieve this runway-meets-Hollywood look, so I pre-styled her hair the night before. Distribute Dove Curl & Sculpt Defining Mousse throughout and blow dry hair with round brush to add lift

3) Set top sections of hair with large, 3 inch Velcro rollers for 15-20 minutes. While rollers set, add extensions in the front only to make hair longer in the front and shorter in the back.

4) Spritz throughout with Dove Heat Defense Therapy Mist to protect against styling damage.

5) Wrap 1 ½ to 2 inch sections of hair around a 1 inch curling iron to create a big, loose wave instead of a tight curl.

6) The next day, reapply mousse to add lift to hair, and blow dry gently with a round brush to freshen up ends but not set perfectly.

7) Rake a small amount of Dove Frizz Control Therapy Taming Cream through hair to add smoothness.

Lady Gaga is the Queen!

Contrary to her subsequent outré style, the New York Post described Lady Gaga's early look as like "a refugee from Jersey Shore" with "big black hair, heavy eye makeup and tight, revealing clothes. Gaga is a natural brunette, however she bleached her hair blonde, because she was often mistaken for Amy Winehouse. She often refers to her fans as her 'little monsters' and got a tattoo with that inscription as a tribute. She has another six known tattoos, among them a peace symbol, which was inspired by John Lennon whom she stated was her hero, and a curling German script on her left arm which quotes the poet Rainer Maria Rilke, her favorite philosopher, commenting that his "philosophy of solitude" spoke to her.Toward the end of 2008, comparisons were made between the fashions of Lady Gaga and recording artist Christina Aguilera, noting similarities in their styling, hair, and make-up. Now, as the newly crowned "Queen of Twitter", fans can't get enough of the quirky posts and pictures from the life of this pop sensation.

Lady Gaga has burst onto the scene as an inspiration for the music industry, and as a humanitarian. Lady Gaga has spoken at civil rights speeches, and was a campaign advocate for Barack Obama. So what makes Lady Gaga such a star? Well it all starts with the "Haus of Gaga", the group of people who follow her around and help her create the style that makes her unique. The Haus of Gaga produces and creates the "Gaga" look, through the use of runway styles and intricate hair and makeup. It's the Haus the makes her stage show so popular with the fans.
Lady Gaga had a rough beginning but with her first album selling millions, there is no stopping her now. Her hair is one of a kind too, just like her personality. She has recreated style from different era's, such as the short bob and the long and wavy look popular during the "pin-up" era.

Gaga is most known for her outlandish styles, such as a bow made of her own hair, a beehive taller than anyone has done before, and even a hat made entirely from her own hair. It's this creativity that makes Gaga who she is today, and why she keeps on growing. With each new song, she recreates herself, and makes a new image unlike any other. Make sure to check out www.wigsuperstore.com and view our complete selection to create a style that's unique to you!

Wow! The Oscars. THE night to check out style and of course hair. You have to have the perfect hair to finish a style. Sometimes the hair can be the focal point of a style. You just have to make sure in that case your clothes are not so crazy as to take away from the hair. You clothes to compliment you Doo!

Who comes to mind in this case is Sandra Bullock. It was absolutely her night. She won the Oscar for Best Actress but more importantly (wink wink) her hair was gorgeous. It was absolutely the one thing that stood out about her and made her style. She wore it long and straight, parted with a deep part on one side. I'm sure there was plenty of product it it to help it flatten like that and make it shine! Her make up was very pretty and her dress was beautiful as well. It was by Marchesa and was shimmering beaded gold. Sandra did not decide on an Oscar gown until the day before the show. It was her oldest stepdaughter who was responsible for the decision. "Somebody helped me decide-my oldest stepdaughter," Sandra said. "It was her favorite".

Meryle Streep also looked wonderful wearing her hair in a soft up do. She looked radiant. She has had 15 Oscar nominations and has won. She wore a classy white gown that was designed by Chris March who is a Project Runway season four alum. He said that she was dying to wear two matching Fred Leighten Art Deco black and diamond bracelets and wanted something white and Old Hollywood glamour to go with them. I think they did it she looked very Old Hollywood and very beautiful.

Another wonderful back story on hair and dress for the Oscars is the one about Mo'Nique. She wore her hair pulled straight back in a bun. It was very classic and looked really nice on her. In her hair she wore an gardenia. More on the reason why in a second. For her dress she choose a beautiful cobalt blue color, it was fitted and sleeveless. She wore the orchid just as Hattie McDaniel did in 1940 when she received an Oscar for her role as Mammy in Gone With The Wind. Mo'Niques dress was also the same color as the one worn by Hattie McDaniel. Mo'Nique did all of this as a tribute to Hattie, who she feels paved the way for her. McDaniel was the first African American to be nominated and win an Oscar. Mo'Nique said "So for you, Miss Hattie McDaniel, I feel you all over me."

What a great night! The women looked beautiful and the guys very handsome. However I was a little upset with George Clooney, he has let his hair go way to gray. I love George and he has never been afraid of a little hair color, all of us should use whatever help we can get. Lets hope the gray hair is just for a role or something. He's still beautiful.

Oscar Style Preview!

This Sunday is the Oscars and it is always fun to sit back, watch the show, and check out every ones clothes and hairstyles. The hair can absolutely bring a look together or be a part of a train wreck. Great hair can also save a so-so gown.

According to celebrity stylist Ted Gibson the "it" hair style this year is the slicked back bun. Ted should know, he has styled celebrities Anne Hathaway, Renee Zellweger, and Angelina Jolie's hair for previous Oscar nights. Ted styles this bun loosely in the back to give it a modern look. The loose up do was worn by Anna Kendrick and Sandra Bullock at the Golden Globes.

This is a great feminine style that is easy to do and you can do it at home! It looks great on everyone.
1. Brush out your hair.
2. Make a deep side part on one side and brush your hair back into a ponytail. Add some sort of protectant as you do this step. Anything that will make your hair shiny and prevent fly aways. You could use a conditioning spray.
3. Pull your hair back into a ponytail. As you do this make the ponytail go over to one side in the back, again this makes it look more modern and more feminine. Secure the ponytail. Something like a bungee elastic would be easy to work with but a hair band will work great.
4. Now braid the ponytail and use a hair band at the end of the braid. The braid makes this hairstyle modern and SEXY! Now mess with the braid and loosen it up so it looks like this style was no trouble at all. You always go around looking this hot.
5. Roll the braid into a bun and secure it with pins. Add a little hairspray and your done!

Ted says that Oscar hair is sexy, shiny, deliberate, and gorgeous. You!!!!

Donation Wigs for Chemo Patients Bring Optimism, Gratitude

A few weeks ago, I received a note from one of our wholesale customers, Jeri Millard, and wanted share part of it with our readers. We all enjoy our work but sometimes don't realize the effect it has on others, and this was an excellent reminder for me.

Jeri Millard runs a shop in Jacksonville, FL called In the Pink that provides support for cancer patients, including specialty wigs for chemo patients when treatment side effects take their hair. Jeri recently supplied a wig to 12-year-old Kessia, who lives in Costa Rica and is currently battling cancer. Kessia had beautiful, waist long hair, and after her first chemo session, lost it all. Predictably, she felt "different" and did not want to go out in public without hair.

With the help of Jeri and others, Kessia now owns a wig, scarf and wig stand. After receiving her wig, Kessia was thrilled and feeling optimistic about her second treatment.

Jim, who owns a coffee plantation in Costa Rica and recently received a visit from Kessia and her family, writes to Jeri:

The little girl is very optimistic and goes for her second chemo treatment soon, the second of ten. The doctors keep Kessia in the hospital for five days with each chemo treatment. You can see the smile and optimism in the little girls face. It is hard to guess what is going through her mother's mind. Her face though has an unmistakable message. ..She will endure the hell of seeing her flesh and blood go through the rigors and cruel side effects of chemo.

I know miracles happen, but it is my guess that she will join Angel Baba (a friend of his who died of cancer) in heaven in the near future. I sincerely hope that I am wrong.
This experience was a moving one for me. It served to reinforce the importance of putting things in perspective. Most things in life that aggravate us or cause us momentary discomfort are really nothing and insignificant, when you compare them to what Baba went through, and what Kessia is going through.

WigSuperstore.com is proud to have contributed in some way to this child’s recovery and optimism as she completes her treatment. Thank you for sharing this with me Jeri it is inspirational.

We are passionate about helping people find the right wig or hair piece, no matter what the purpose or reason, and enjoy hearing how our efforts have helped change and improve the lives of our customers (or others). Do you have a story to tell? Share it with us below in the comments section or e-mail us at wigsuperstore@gmail.com.

Lets talk about the Grammy Hair!

At this years Grammy telecast CBS had it's largest viewership in 6 years! So that was pretty cool. We all got to see a lot of stars. You know they had spent months picking out there clothes and deciding how to wear their hair. Just like the rest of us when we have a big event. What I was excited about was that so many of the stars wore their hair down, elegant and simple. They let their natural beauty come through. Of course there were the guys and girls who went a little wild (it was the Grammys) but a lot of them went kind of old school- which if done right is always beautiful.

First of all Taylor Swift. Her hair was wonderful. It had been crimped all the way down and she wore it swept to the side. It had that short 1940's look to it. She looked awesome. She is just so cute. I saw video of her of other times during the night and she had it down, still crimped, but down and it looked even better.

OK lets bash on someone for a minute. What is the deal with the long hair, pulled back into a pony tail tight on the sides but on the top it is backcombed up and then back? It is awful. I have seen this on Kim Kardashian and it's too bad because I think she is really pretty but the style is so awful that she can't even pull it off. Hilary Scott of the group Lady Antebellum (who by the way won Best Country Performance by Duo or Group w/vocals) wore this style that night. Her hair totally detracted from her cute self. I saw an album cover of theirs and she had her hair down on it and she looked hot.

Miley Cyrus wore her hair down. It is so long! She looks like she might have hair extensions in and they look AWESOME. I saw her in concert and thought the same thing. Her hair was long and straight at the top with soft waves as it went down. She looked great. If my daughter finds out about the hair extensions she will want some. That would actually be a trend started by a celebrity that would be OK!

Rihanna was stunning as usual. Her hair was very short on the sides and longer on the top. It's not very long on the top and was wavy, straight and pushed up at the same time. Rihanna always takes chances and always looks looks like a supermodel.

Beyonce looked gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. She wore a very soft colored dress that showed off her rockin body and her hair was long, parted on the side, and straight. It was beautiful. The color was great and it was super shiny. It was so pretty. Grammy night was definitely her night! She won big and looked terrific doing it.

The whole night was good I think. There were wigs, hair extensions, updo's, long curly hair, long straight hair, short spiked hair- all different styles and accessories used to make the stars look fantastic. How much fun must that be to be able to try whatever you want. It's like grown up Dress UP! Maybe we should all add a little grown up Dress Up to our lives! Might be fun!

SAG Awards Red Carpet Hair 2010

Well one week removed from the Golden Globes, we have the SAG awards. This time of year is great for fashion and hair. I thought it was very interesting to see the way the hair changed from last week to this week. This night seemed overall more elegant in regards to hairstyles than last week. Lots more up-dos and not near as many risks taken.

Lets start with the ones who did take risks. First would have to be Julie Benz. I wasn't a huge fan of her dress, but her hair looked great. Soft curls all around and swept back to one side, with very pretty bangs. Anna Paquin's dress was very risky, short, revealing, and lots of color. Maybe not quite dressy enough for the SAG awards, more for the Grammys, but it's great she takes risks and the dress is young, like her. Her hair was pretty, she wore it down, softly curled under, and pulled back a little on the sides, a traditional hair style that was a good idea to with a rocker dress. To have gone way out on both would have been too much.

Now for a few of those who played it safer but still looked amazing! Mariska Hargirtay looked great. She wore a bold color fuchsia dress. Bold colors were definitely the trend on the red carpet this year. Her hair was beautiful. She wore it down, with some soft curls, very lightly done. Which lets be honest, is all Mariska needs. She's gorgeous and really all she has to do is be careful to not get in the way of her beauty. The same with Julianna Margulies she looked awesome. She wore a black dress, personally I did not like the cut around the top but the rest of it was long and elegant. Her hair was great. Again she wore it down and soft. She has long, beautiful, dark hair and it looked as though it had been washed and blown dry. Very simple, very stunning.

I think the overall fashion and hair winner was absolutely Kate Hudson. She had on this long white dress by Emilio Pucci. Her hair was pulled back from her face and in a low updo. She reminded me of Sharon Stone when she was so hot in Basic Instinct. Remember that scene when she had her hair pulled up and she was dancing in the bar with her girlfriend and then Michael Douglas? That's exactly what I thought of. Her dress was backless and having her hair up was great because it was an elegant style and it did not interfere with the line of the backless dress. She looked very 1940s movie star.

I think that for many tonight was outstanding, even if they weren't mentioned above. Overall this was a much better looking event than the Globes this year. Congrats to all, and remember you can always visit our site, WigSuperstore.com to find wigs, extensions, and pieces to match the stars styles. Thanks for stopping by.

Hair Styles at the 2010 Golden Globes

This year was disappointing, to say the least, as far as hair goes on the red carpet. There were more big stars there than usual, but not many took chances with their hairstyle. The dress and accessories were far better overall that the hair this year. Now to be fair, it was raining, but most had umbrellas. However, some of the hairstyles had less to do with rain and more to do with poor choice.

Let's start with those who missed it. Fergie was a disappointment . I love her long beautiful hair, but the color was too dark for the dress and there was no style there? Tina Fey wasn't far off with a half-up do, and bangs which were parted and too long. A very funny lady, but not a funny style. Now on to Marion Cotillard, I actually liked the up-do, just not with the asymmetrical dress, and no ear rings? How do you wear your hair up with no ear rings or necklace? Emily Blunt also falls in this category. She was wearing a very pretty pink dress that matched her skin tone and hair color very well, but choose to wear her hair down with soft curls and really no style? To round out those who fell short is, Jennifer Garner. One of my favorite actresses, I've loved her fashion sense in the past, but the this night was not one. The bangs were pulled back and up, but her long gorgeous hair was down in back, and didn't look like it had been touched with a curling iron or flat iron? Sorry Jennifer, but I call them like I see them.

This brings us to my favorite part, the winners! To me Courtney Cox had great hair. She wore a classic up-do with soft curls off the side, brilliant. Another great up style was worn by January Jones of Mad Men. Hers was very fashion forward with the use of an elegant black headband, to match her equally beautiful black dress. Up-do of the night however was worn by Kristen Bell. She got some grief for her short white dress, but I loved it! The hair was up very stylish in the back, and pulled back and down tight in the front and on the sides for the winner in this category.

My personal favorite is the long hair worn down. I know it doesn't look as elegant for awards shows, but done right I think its more stunning. Christina Hendricks of Mad Men, can really do know wrong when she wears her hair down as she did that night. Soft curls all over with all those layers, and it was parted in the perfect place. This style is very similar to the Jessica wig by Henry Margu. Number two for me was Julia Roberts, again soft long curls all over, and parted in the middle to show off those gorgeous red and blond color tones. How could we do this blog without mentioning Heidi Klum? She looked amazing with her beautiful blonde hair down in a perfect off the shoulder dress, very glamorous.

I saved these two for last because I thought they were the best in any category. Sandra Bullock was the only one for me who pulled off the half up style. Very elegant and up in back and on the left side, while slightly down and off her crown to the right were these beautiful soft curls. The grand champion of hair for the evening was Olivia Wilde. Again, to me the only one who got away with rockin the classic up pony. Pulled back softly on top and the sides with a high pony in back done to perfection! Thank you Olivia for showing us how its done.

Best self admitted use of a hairpiece goes to Giuliana Rancic. When Ryan Seacrest accused her of wearing extensions, she said "No, but the pony is a piece". It appeared to be the beautiful Jessica Simpson wrap around pony, but I don't know for sure. Don't forget for all things hair and lots of other stuff you can always follow us on Twitter @wigsuperstore.com or visit our site at WigSuperstore.com, thanks for stopping by!

This wig uses Tru2Life™ synthetic Raquel Welch hair, which makes your styling options limitless, and just as with real hair, this soft, natural looking fiber can be curled or straightened with thermal styling tools to create any style you want. This product is one of many that uses Raquel’s updated and patented Memory Cap® II technology that affords a lighter weight; thinner, resilient lace straps; and ultra fine wefts for the absolute finest in comfort and style. With that, the Memory Cap™ collection includes a patented and exclusive Kanekalon Vibralite® fiber that simulates protein rich hair and a wide color selection that reflects the multi-dimensional colors requested in today’s better salons. All Memory Cap™ wigs offer a cap with stretch lace that fit to the shape of your head.

Breeze:
A classic Celebrity Signature Raquel Welch wig, the Breeze uses soft wispy layers to create a care-free style that can be tousled and styled easily using wig cream or mousse. The wig’s Memory Cap® makes it easy and comfortable to create a sassy shake-and-go look.

Create a New Look with Jessica Simpson Wigs and Hair Pieces by Celebrity Stylist Ken Paves

Was one of your New Year’s Resolutions to change your look? If for personal and/or professional reasons, changing your look is easy with hairdo Jessica Simpson hair pieces and wigs, inspired by celebrity stylist Ken Paves. The line includes a variety of wigs and hair pieces, including wigs, multiple hair extension pieces, ponytail extensions and two bangs extensions.

Here are some details on just a few of them:

Because extensions just aren't always enough, hairdo recently launched the first Jessica Simpson wig, Long and Luscious, which feels and styles just like your own hair. It features stretch bands in the back, a velvet-lined front hair line and added lace material to cover the crown part of the cap, not to mention an extremely comfortable design, complete with ear tabs, wafting in the back and an extended nape. And similar to most hairdo pieces, this line of Jessica Simpson wigs is heat-friendly and made with the new Tru2Life® synthetic fiber so it can be styled with a curling iron, flat iron or blow dryer, on medium settings up to 350 degrees, just like your own hair. Any heat styling you choose will stay locked into place until heat styled again.

The Wrap-Around Pony is a highly popular product that adds sleek volume and length to ponytails via a user-friendly attachment, along with a bonus section of hair to wrap around the closure to achieve a sleek look. All color selections are made from a blend of 7-to-12 shades for the most believable, natural-looking results.

Among the 12 Jessica Simpson hair pieces available, the Bump Up the Volume is WigSuperstore.com’s best seller. The 21-inch hair piece extension has a half-circle base with five moldable wires and four pressure-sensitive clips that help create lift and add volume simply by pushing up on the piece. The piece blends with your natural hair and gives you volume and fullness in an instant.

The Human Hair Fringe is the newest bang extension available in the Jessica Simpson collection. The clip-in piece is made from 100% fine human hair and ready to cut, curl, color and wear however you’d like. The "fringe" can be customized and clips in within seconds.
