Wow! The Oscars. THE night to check out style and of course hair. You have to have the perfect hair to finish a style. Sometimes the hair can be the focal point of a style. You just have to make sure in that case your clothes are not so crazy as to take away from the hair. You clothes to compliment you Doo!

Who comes to mind in this case is Sandra Bullock. It was absolutely her night. She won the Oscar for Best Actress but more importantly (wink wink) her hair was gorgeous. It was absolutely the one thing that stood out about her and made her style. She wore it long and straight, parted with a deep part on one side. I'm sure there was plenty of product it it to help it flatten like that and make it shine! Her make up was very pretty and her dress was beautiful as well. It was by Marchesa and was shimmering beaded gold. Sandra did not decide on an Oscar gown until the day before the show. It was her oldest stepdaughter who was responsible for the decision. "Somebody helped me decide-my oldest stepdaughter," Sandra said. "It was her favorite".

Meryle Streep also looked wonderful wearing her hair in a soft up do. She looked radiant. She has had 15 Oscar nominations and has won. She wore a classy white gown that was designed by Chris March who is a Project Runway season four alum. He said that she was dying to wear two matching Fred Leighten Art Deco black and diamond bracelets and wanted something white and Old Hollywood glamour to go with them. I think they did it she looked very Old Hollywood and very beautiful.

Another wonderful back story on hair and dress for the Oscars is the one about Mo'Nique. She wore her hair pulled straight back in a bun. It was very classic and looked really nice on her. In her hair she wore an gardenia. More on the reason why in a second. For her dress she choose a beautiful cobalt blue color, it was fitted and sleeveless. She wore the orchid just as Hattie McDaniel did in 1940 when she received an Oscar for her role as Mammy in Gone With The Wind. Mo'Niques dress was also the same color as the one worn by Hattie McDaniel. Mo'Nique did all of this as a tribute to Hattie, who she feels paved the way for her. McDaniel was the first African American to be nominated and win an Oscar. Mo'Nique said "So for you, Miss Hattie McDaniel, I feel you all over me."

What a great night! The women looked beautiful and the guys very handsome. However I was a little upset with George Clooney, he has let his hair go way to gray. I love George and he has never been afraid of a little hair color, all of us should use whatever help we can get. Lets hope the gray hair is just for a role or something. He's still beautiful.

Oscar Style Preview!

This Sunday is the Oscars and it is always fun to sit back, watch the show, and check out every ones clothes and hairstyles. The hair can absolutely bring a look together or be a part of a train wreck. Great hair can also save a so-so gown.

According to celebrity stylist Ted Gibson the "it" hair style this year is the slicked back bun. Ted should know, he has styled celebrities Anne Hathaway, Renee Zellweger, and Angelina Jolie's hair for previous Oscar nights. Ted styles this bun loosely in the back to give it a modern look. The loose up do was worn by Anna Kendrick and Sandra Bullock at the Golden Globes.

This is a great feminine style that is easy to do and you can do it at home! It looks great on everyone.
1. Brush out your hair.
2. Make a deep side part on one side and brush your hair back into a ponytail. Add some sort of protectant as you do this step. Anything that will make your hair shiny and prevent fly aways. You could use a conditioning spray.
3. Pull your hair back into a ponytail. As you do this make the ponytail go over to one side in the back, again this makes it look more modern and more feminine. Secure the ponytail. Something like a bungee elastic would be easy to work with but a hair band will work great.
4. Now braid the ponytail and use a hair band at the end of the braid. The braid makes this hairstyle modern and SEXY! Now mess with the braid and loosen it up so it looks like this style was no trouble at all. You always go around looking this hot.
5. Roll the braid into a bun and secure it with pins. Add a little hairspray and your done!

Ted says that Oscar hair is sexy, shiny, deliberate, and gorgeous. You!!!!
